Uses of Meditation for Health in the United States


A 2007 national Government survey that asked about CAM (complementary and alternative medicine) use in a sample of 23,393 U.S. adults found that 9.4 percent of respondents (representing more than 20 million people) had used meditation in the past 12 months—compared with 7.6 percent of respondents (representing more than 15 million people) in a similar survey conducted in 2002. The 2007 survey also asked about CAM use in a sample of 9,417 children; 1 percent (representing 725,000 children) had used meditation in the past 12 months.

People use meditation for various health problems, such as:

Anxiety

Pain

Depression

Stress

Insomnia

Physical or emotional symptoms that may be associated with chronic illnesses (such as heart disease, HIV/AIDS, and cancer) and their treatment.

Can Hypnosis For Weight Loss Really Work?

Can hypnosis truly be effective for weight loss?

Hypnosis may help you shed a few extra pounds when it’s used along with other weight-loss methods, such as diet and exercise. But there isn’t enough solid scientific evidence about weight-loss hypnosis to recommend for or against it.

Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness, usually achieved with the help of a hypnotherapist using verbal repetition and mental images. When you’re under hypnosis, your attention is highly focused and you’re more responsive to suggestions, including behavior changes that can help you lose weight. After proper instruction, you can also try self-hypnosis for weight loss. Weight-loss hypnosis is often combined with cognitive behavioral therapy.

Through the years, numerous studies have evaluated the use of weight-loss hypnosis. Most found positive but modest weight-loss results, with an average weight loss of about 6 pounds (2.72 kilograms). But the quality of some of these studies has been questioned, making it hard to determine the effectiveness of weight-loss hypnosis.

Meditate And Create

This past weekend I took a trip down to Austin Texas, and attended another one of Pat O’Bryan’s Unseminar’s. Unseminar 8 to be exact.

One of the speaker’s this weekend, (and there were many), was my hypnosis teacher Wendi Friesen. I love Wendi, not only has she help me from the ground up become a hypnotist, she care’s about her former students and always ask how she can help us become better hypnotists.

Sunday she discussed becoming creative, or even more creative than we already are.

So sit back, and let’s see if we can bring some creativity, or more into your life.

Sometimes we all hit blocks. We want to finish something, we have a deadline, we have to get a project done. but sometimes it seems the harder we try, the more blocks pop up to stop us.

For me, I imagined a canvas that one would use to paint upon. On that canvas was all kinds of colors.

It looked as if someone had taken a paint brush, dip in paints of different colors, and just splattered it on the canvas.

The blues were deep.

The red’s brilliant.

The yellow’s and green’s jumped off the canvas at me!

How could I not get inspiration from a scene such as this!

As I let me mind wander, I was just floating, releasing my conscious.

Thoughts came to me.

My unconscious mind was allowing the creativity pent up inside me to release, to come out.

Oh such a feeling.

And then we were brought back to our reality.

But, I now have a way to bring myself back, back into that room I call creativity.

What a wonderful feeling. So relaxing, so peaceful, but yet knowing that when I hit a block, I can release it.

My challenge to you is this…..

Meditation And The Nashville Flood


Hello,

What would it be like if you woke up one morning and found that your street, your town, and now your house was flooded, and more rain was coming.

Can you imagine that scene?

Well, that is what happened over this past weekend to my town here in LaVergne Tennessee, just 24 miles down I 24 east from Nashville Tennessee.

You see,our town, and Nashville included just went through the great flood of 2010.

70 plus cars were stranded and flooded and washed away on interstate 24, and some deaths have occurred.

Opryland Hotel, closed due to flooding. Downtown Nashville; flooded. Businesses lost.

Does Hypnosis For Confidence Really Work?

Can Meditation Assist You In Falling Asleep?


Meditation can assist in relaxing you, as well as guide you in achieving your goal of sleep.

Meditation techniques come in various forms, but the bottom line is, whatever method you chose, it will help you channel your thoughts. By meditating, you can focus your thoughts and that shuts out distractions that could be harmful and preventing your sleep.

Related to meditation is self-hypnosis, which can take the form of repeating words or suggestions in your mind, over and again. This repetition may help lull you into slumber. Visualization, which is engaging in another type of mental journey without outside distraction, is another way to try to relax yourself prior to sleep.

These de-stressing techniques can help you slow the body’s processes down, helping to create a bridge between your waking and sleeping moments. Easing into sleep can only be helpful if it works on a consistent basis. As discussed before,  a sleep journal can help you stay on the proper path.
